IKO Shingle Repair: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide
IKO shingle repair in Jacksonville typically runs between $350 and $800 for a standard roof repair, depending on how many shingles failed and where they sit. Most repairs we do are completed the same day, and we stock IKO-compatible shingles from the Cambridge and Nordic lines on our trucks. You’ll have the price in writing before we touch a shingle.
The way most Jacksonville homeowners discover they need an IKO shingle repair is unglamorous: a shingle in the yard after an afternoon thunderstorm, a water stain spreading across a bedroom ceiling, or granules collecting in the gutters faster than usual. Sometimes it’s a call from a neighbor saying your roof looks like it “shed” on their side. IKO shingles are built for Florida sun and rain, but anything attached to a Jacksonville roof long enough eventually needs attention, and the failure is rarely dramatic. It’s usually one or two compromised shingles that let water through slowly.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
We work with IKO’s full residential lineup, but in Jacksonville we see three lines most often: Cambridge (the architectural shingle most common on newer builds), Nordic (the performance architectural that’s thicker and rated for higher wind), and Marathon (the three-tab you’ll find on older homes in neighborhoods like Riverside and Avondale). The compatibility gotcha with IKO is that Cambridge and Nordic have different exposure widths. You can’t drop a Cambridge shingle into a Nordic roof repair and call it matched; the reveal sits differently, and the finished repair looks wrong from the street.
If you’re not sure which IKO shingle you have, check the landing page: IKO prints the series name on the bundle wrapper, and we can match the color from a single lifted shingle. We carry Cambridge and Nordic colors on the truck, and we can source Marathon-era colors with a day or two notice. One thing worth knowing: IKO’s color mixing has shifted subtly between production years, so a shingle from 2018 may not match a 2024 bundle perfectly. Erik Lindgren checks the bundle date codes before we quote anything, because a repair that’s “close” is still visibly patched from the ground. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: IKO Cambridge and Nordic sit in a sweet spot where the original manufacture isn’t dramatically more expensive than a quality aftermarket equivalent, so we default to factory-matched IKO unless you’re on a tight budget and the roof has less than five years of life left anyway.

Signs Your IKO Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules in the gutter or at the downspout elbow. IKO shingles, like all asphalt shingles, shed granules as the surface wears. A sudden increase concentrated under one roof plane often means a specific area is failing while the rest of the roof is fine. We see this on south-facing slopes in Jacksonville where the sun bakes harder.
- Curling at the corners or lifting at the nail line. This happens when the adhesive strip that bonds shingle courses dries out or the shingle loses enough surface oil to become brittle. You’ll spot it as a “fishmouth” where the corner seems to smile up at you.
- Blisters that look like pimples on the shingle surface. These form when moisture gets trapped under the granule layer and the hot Jacksonville sun expands it. Blisters that pop leave small craters that catch water. It’s one of the most common IKO-specific issues we repair on roofs between eight and fifteen years old.
- Dark streaks running down from one shingle, not the whole roof. If the streak starts mid-roof and follows a single shingle’s path, you’re looking at a localized leak, not general algae. That’s a repair, not a replacement.
- A shingle that’s physically cracked or “torn” horizontally. In Jacksonville’s afternoon thunderstorm season, wind gets under a lifted shingle and snaps it. A torn shingle can’t be glued back; it needs to be replaced, and the shingle below it should be checked for nail pop damage while we’re up there.

What you’ll actually pay depends on four things: how many shingles have failed, whether the roof pitch is walkable or needs harness work, how many courses back the damage runs, and whether the underlayment is still sound once we lift the area. Most single-area IKO shingle repairs in Jacksonville fall between $350 and $800. A bundle of IKO Cambridge runs around $35 to $45 at wholesale, and labor is the bigger part of the number.
Every quote from us includes the IKO shingles, the felt or synthetic underlayment patch if needed, roofing nails, the sealant, and the labor to remove, reset, and hand-seal the repair area. The written price you sign off on is the price you pay; if we pull the old shingle and find the decking beneath is spongy, we’ll show you the issue, explain the adjustment, and get your sign-off before proceeding. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the repair isn’t right, we come back and make it right. That’s stamped on every job, including this one.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely do from the ground: check your gutters for granules, take photos of curling or cracked shingles from the yard, and note which roof plane the stain inside the house corresponds to. What you shouldn’t do is get on the ladder and start pulling shingles. Jacksonville roofs get hot enough in the summer to soften the asphalt and make footing unpredictable, and a shingle that’s failing is sometimes a sign of decking rot beneath it. A repair that looks simple from the ground can turn into a re-nailed section of decking once someone’s actually standing on it.
If the dog needs to stay inside while we’re working, we’ll coordinate the door schedule with you. We’re in and out in a few hours on most single-area repairs, and the crew cleans up before they leave; you’ll have a photo of the finished clean-up. FAQs
IKO Cambridge and Nordic architectural shingles carry 30-year to lifetime manufacturer warranties, but in Jacksonville’s sun, humidity, and storm cycles, most homeowners realistically get 15 to 20 years before repairs become frequent. That’s not unique to IKO; it’s the reality of Florida asphalt roofing for any brand. Call (904) 604-7914 if you want an honest read on how much life your roof has left.
A localized shingle failure can be repaired when the surrounding area is still intact and the underlayment below is dry and sound. If we see failures across multiple roof planes, granule loss across a broad area, or damage running under more than a few courses, a repair would be temporary and we’ll tell you that straight.
Most single-area IKO shingle repairs in Jacksonville take between one and three hours once we’re on the roof, including setting up protection, removing the damaged shingles, patching underlayment, and installing the new IKO shingles to match. We’re careful with the door schedule and quiet hours, and the crew photographs the clean-up before they leave.
We stock IKO Cambridge and Nordic shingles on our trucks in the most common Jacksonville colors, which lets us match most repairs same-day. If your roof uses an older Marathon color or an uncommon Cambridge blend, we can source it from our local supplier in a day or two. We’re an independent Jacksonville roofing company, not affiliated with IKO, but we’ve worked with their materials for years and know which colors carry to which neighborhoods.
